Summerhouse Plantationin Ashton Court, Long Ashton

Summerhouse Plantation is in Ashton Court Estate on the hillside directly above the Mansion and car park. In the photo above Kennel Lodge Road turns left to the car park with the mansion a little further to the left. Some of the trees nearest the red deer enclosure (the high fenced field on the right), were cut down in 2004/5, with smaller trees and saplings also removed from the main plantation in 2006/7 to return the plantation to its 18th century form. Note that the park gates are only open between roughly dawn and dusk hours. Photo taken 30th October 2003 from Kennel Lodge Road (just beyond the University buildings). Back to Ashton Court page. |
