Bower Ashton and anything within a reasonable walking distances, a mile or less usually, roughly thats about 20 minutes walk or less for most. Surprising to me at least what's going on close by.

These are in calendar date order where possible.

  • Ashton Court Festival in mid to late July.

  • Bristol Balloon Festia in Ashton Court, 2nd week of August, Thursday to Sunday.

    The biggest one with over 100,000 visitors a day in some years. Clanage Road/Rownham Hill Roads (A369) and the Suspension Bridge closed at peak times in recent years.

  • Bristol International Festival of Kites in Ashton Court, last week of August or 1st week of September.

  • Bristol ½ Marathon Sunday mid to late September or early October. Portway usually closed and other roads too depending on its route.

  • Local Food Week, North Street, late October. No event in 2006.

  • CREATE Festival Fayre, CREATE Centre December. About 50+ stalls in 2005 on the ground and 1st floors.

    The Create Centre is about 10 minutes walk from Bower Ashton. Either from Clanage Road and footpath by the police station or from Brunel Way. MAP.

Regular Events

Public transport access is by the Somerset bus services to Hotwells, Anchor Road and the City Centre bus station. On the bus services page select destination 'Bristol'.

Note that only express to stop in Bower Ashton is the Portishead service.

The UWE U1 bus service is now open to all. The service runs from the UWE (Kennel Lodge Rd) to the UWE's Frenchay campus via Coronation Road, Temple Meads and Zetland Road.
