Expiry Date for Neighbour Consultations: 13/11/2008.

This supersedes the temporary construction access off Blackmoors Lane, previously in 08/03528/F.

23rd October 2008. Ashton Vale Fields

In September 2008, various hedgerow and waterway habitats were damaged or destroyed along Colliters Brook during the removal of hedgerows.

With no notice of the destruction Ashton Vale Heritage were understandably upset. They have set-up an e-petition suggesting a way to allow regeneration and to protect the remaining wildlife habitats.

This may be related to the new stadium development. With the major entrance to this site from a major road (the A370), between the Lloyds sport centre and the Park and Ride a major development on this site is likely to impact all neighbouring communities.

9th October 2008. New Planning Application No: 08/03961/FB - The installation of temporary teaching accommodation for use by the existing school whilst the new building works (application number 08/03528/F) are underway.

4th October 2008. Letter to residents

Ref: Ashton Park School redevelopment

Planning Application Nos. 08/03528/F and 08/03529/LC

Dear neighbour,

Tuesday, October 7th is the final day for written or emailed comments to the planning department regarding the proposed redevelopment of Ashton Park School.

The Bower Ashton Residents’ Association has taken advice from an independent planning consultant to help prepare a community response and will be forwarding two separate letters to the planning officer, Daniel Stone.

The first letter objects strongly to the plans in their existing form on the grounds of safety and the access proposals. It asks for a Construction Phase Traffic Management plan regarding the use of Blackmoors Road for Construction Traffic and refers to the Highway Authority’s clear precedent in vetoing any proposal which establishes a right of access to the school through Parklands Road. The plans submitted by the School suggest that Parklands Road will be in regular use as an entrance for pupils, staff and visitors.

The second letter addresses a broader range of specific issues. These include:-

  1. the positioning of the biomass boiler, shown in consultation to be at the centre of the site but now situated adjacent to both Blackmoors and Rownham Close properties.
  2. increases to building heights and the inclusion of windows overlooking Rownham Close.
  3. the positioning of the all-weather sports court
  4. the access points
  5. concerns about the misleading nature of the consultation process and other breaches of trust and compliance regarding previous planning applications.

If you feel strongly about any of these issues, a short letter stating that you object and a brief outline of your specific concern will help support our position and explain our objections. You can find out more details by visiting the community website www.bower-ashton.co.uk , where you’ll find a link to the plans.
